Staff Spotlight

Each month we will recognize an employee from our schools for their service and commitment to our students and BGVSD team. The number of quality people from which the Bruneau-Grand View School District is comprised is significant. As a result, learners in all of our schools interact daily with educators and support staff that genuinely care about each child’s entire development toward becoming a competent and caring adult in our community.

October
Ashley Merrick

Ashley MerrickFor the month of October, we recognize Ashley Merrick as our special member of the Rimrock Team. Granted Ashley has been an educator for 15 years and is currently providing Pre-K instruction for both Bruneau and Grand View Elementary Schools; however, she is also the BGVSD Athletic Director and has been instrumental in providing leadership and support for our athletes over the past six years. Indeed, her dedication to every coach and athlete within our district is without peer, and her consistent approach to details and the maintenance of safety for all members of the sporting community, has earned her and our school district the respect of regional athletic directors and sporting officials in Idaho.

When Ashley is not teaching, she is having fun on adventures with her husband and children. Her favorite activity is to travel in the family “Cool Bus” with the people she loves and to go rafting and exploring the great outdoors. When asked what she would do if she could go anywhere and do anything, Ashley responded by saying she would choose to “raft the rivers of the world” with her family by her side.

As for challenges in her career, Ashley has expressed dealing with COVID and finding ways to keep everyone safe has been a real challenge. Inspiring and energizing her efforts though, has been the incredible joy she receives from watching children and young adults succeed in life, athletics, and academics. Simply put, she loves the work she does, and we are fortunate to have her as part of our team.
