Each month we will recognize an employee from our schools for their service and commitment to our students and BGVSD team. The number of quality people from which the Bruneau-Grand View School District is comprised is significant. As a result, learners in all of our schools interact daily with educators and support staff that genuinely care about each child's entire development toward becoming a competent and caring adult in our community.

For the month of October, we recognize Ashley Merrick as our special member of the Rimrock Team. Granted Ashley has been an educator for 15 years and is currently providing Pre-K instruction for both Bruneau and Grand View Elementary Schools; however, she is also the BGVSD Athletic Director and has been instrumental in providing leadership and support for our athletes over the past six years. Indeed, her dedication to every coach and athlete within our district is without peer, and her consistent approach to details and the maintenance of safety for all members of the sporting community, has earned her and our school district the respect of regional athletic directors and sporting officials in Idaho.
When Ashley is not teaching, she is having fun on adventures with her husband and children. Her favorite activity is to travel in the family "Cool Bus" with the people she loves and to go rafting and exploring the great outdoors. When asked what she would do if she could go anywhere and do anything, Ashley responded by saying she would choose to "raft the rivers of the world" with her family by her side.
As for challenges in her career, Ashley has expressed dealing with COVID and finding ways to keep everyone safe has been a real challenge. Inspiring and energizing her efforts though, has been the incredible joy she receives from watching children and young adults succeed in life, athletics, and academics. Simply put, she loves the work she does, and we are fortunate to have her as part of our team.
Jonathan McClure has been involved in the Bruneau-Grand View School District since January of 2017 when he made a blind move from Texas. Prior to his time here, Jonathan committed ten years to The Saxton Group (McAlister's Deli) where he worked his way up from a dishwasher at 16 to a general manager and a store opener/recovery for the company His first position with BGV was as a 1:1 paraprofessional at Bruneau Elementary. In August of 2018 he began working for John Aquiso in maintenance and then in 2020, Jonathan became the maintenance supervisor and has been proudly supervising all three campuses.
Jonathan married Kailee McClure in July of 2020 and they currently reside in one of the Bruneau teacher houses. When Jonathan isn't in the district, he likes to adventure with his wife around Idaho. Jonathan and Kailee are determined to see every inch of this state in their Jeep or on their feet. Jonathan is currently studying toward a license for water distribution. Jonathan is naturally introverted, professional, and passionate. He wants others to know that maintenance prioritizes serving the staff and students over all other jobs.
